This year, Thebes Academy celebrates its silver jubilee through various events and activities throughout the year
On this occasion, Professor Ibrahim Salim, Director of the Taiba Center for Scientific Research, Innovation, Consulting and Training, and former Dean of the Taiba Higher Institute for Computer and Administrative Sciences, said:

I was honored to work with Professor Dr. Siddiq Afifi, the pioneer of education in Egypt, where I was honored to assume the deanship of the Taiba Higher Institute for Computer and Administrative Sciences for four years. The fact that Taiba Academy has been developed from its beginning, and one of the things I mention is that we are one of the first universities to use the Ibn al-Haytham program, in cooperation with Mansoura University.

He added: When Thebes Academy cooperated in developing the Ibn al-Haytham program with Mansoura University, we had comments to convey to Mansoura University, and we were developing the program with a modern version in cooperation with Mansoura University. Over the course of a year, we cooperated to develop the Ibn al-Haytham program, and we were in daily communication with Professor Dr. Sherif Kishk, head of the center in Mansoura University to develop this program, and it was a distinguished experience with Mansoura University, where we arrived together at the latest version of the modern Ibn al-Haytham program, and this program is currently working in the updated version at Thebes Academy.

Professor Dr. Ibrahim Salim confirmed that through working over the years under the leadership of Professor Dr. Seddik Afifi, he always advised us to have boldness and initiative in modernization and development, whatever the challenges, and one of the characteristics of Professor Dr. Seddik Afifi is facing challenges, which are always crowned with success. Professor Dr. Ibrahim added. Salim said that in addition to his deanship of the Taiba Higher Institute for Computer and Administrative Sciences, we contributed to the establishment of the Thebes Center for Scientific Research and Innovation.

We have made cooperation protocols with many institutions, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports. We have also made a cooperation protocol with the Arab Organization for Industrialization and with several institutions until we have currently made a cooperation protocol with the National Research Center, which is an important center that includes 12,000 scientists. In terms of new departments and specializations, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Selim pointed out that Thebes Academy.

It was one of the first institutions to start the credit hour system in Egypt, and the Ministry of Higher Education responded at the time that it was a new and unprecedented system for use in Egypt. It asked Professor Dr. Seddik Afifi to organize a training course for the Ministry’s employees, which is what happened, and that was specifically in 1995 when he established the Thebes Higher Institute for Technology. Management and Information in Giza, and then in 1999 he established the Taiba Higher Institute for Computers and the Thebes Higher Institute for Engineering at the Thebes Academy headquarters in Maadi.

Professor Dr. Ibrahim Salim pointed out that Thebes Academy began as a digital transformation. Professor Dr. Seddik Afifi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Taibah Academy, introduced computers early in Thebes Academy and Thebes schools.

He also established computer laboratories, and even before the Ibn al-Haytham program, there was a digital program for student affairs created by workers at Thebes Academy.

We were also the first educational institution to set advanced computer specifications. The Academy even imported these advanced devices because they were not available in Egypt. It was always the vision of Professor Dr. Seddik Afifi that the Academy be a pioneer.

Regarding artificial intelligence, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Selim indicated that Thebes Academy is the first higher institute to request the establishment of a department for artificial intelligence. We have developed a comprehensive plan for this and submitted a request to the Ministry of Higher Education, but unfortunately the Unified Committee for Special Education decided that intelligence departments should be in colleges and not higher institutes. However, we have a path for intelligence. We teach specialized subjects in artificial intelligence at the Thebes Higher Institute for Computer and Administrative Sciences, and we were the first higher institute. He pointed out that the Thebes Higher Computer Institute is the first institute after the Tenth of Ramadan Institute to implement compulsory field application for students.

Therefore, our student graduates as a professional, and our students always have amazing projects. For example, we have a comprehensive project for the smart garage, Smart Parking, which includes electronic data about the number of empty spaces and their locations, as well as when you leave, you pay electronically, and so on.

Likewise, we had previously discussed a graduation project on the self-driving smart car when I was dean of the Thebes Higher Institute of Computers. We produced a miniature model of this car, and one of the students traveled.
Thebes Academy traveled to Beijing at China’s expense to attend a workshop on the smart self-driving car. The project was discussed by Professor Fatima Emara, professor of computers and artificial intelligence at Cairo University and one of the scientific eminences. I was a supervisor of this project. Professor Dr. Fatima Emara awarded the students a distinction and said that the level of the Thebes students was no. It is below the level of Cairo University students, and this is an important certificate.

Currently, Professor Dr. Siddiq Afifi has provided financial support to the Thebes Center for Scientific Research and Innovation to produce the self-driving electric car at Thebes Academy. We have formed a work team of professors and students from the Thebes Higher Institute of Computer and Administrative Sciences and the Thebes Higher Institute of Engineering, and during the next academic year 2024..2025, we will be able This self-driving electric car will be produced in normal size, God willing and always, by a good academy headed by Professor Dr. Seddik Afifi. It does not skimp on the students, professors and employees of the academy.
