A few days ago, the implementation of the initiative of Prof. Dr. Siddik Afifi (Dar es Salaam without illiteracy for a decent life) began through a plan that was agreed to be implemented in cooperation with the Public Authority for Literacy and Adult Education, Dar es Salaam neighborhood and many official authorities. For his part, Prof. Dr. Seddik said Afifi, President of Taiba Educational Institutions, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Merritt University, and the owner of the initiative, said that one hundred volunteers were recruited to perform the teacher’s job in the literacy classes that will be opened within the next few days at the headquarters of Thebes Academy in Maadi. He stressed that he was personally surprised by the turnout of volunteers and the willingness to learn, as it is always said otherwise. He stressed that he is optimistic about achieving the initiative's goals, noting that it was agreed in the preparatory meetings in the presence of representatives from the General Authority for Literacy and Adult Education, the head of the Dar es Salaam neighborhood, the head of the educational administration and heads of departments The district’s educational and social associations and civil associations agreed on the full implementation plan, and it was agreed that five thousand citizens in the area would be eradicated annually.
